I recently had my makeup done at the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Brown Thomas and I liked it so much I completely lost the run of myself and bought every single thing she put on my face. I’m no makeup artist and so haven’t been able to recreate anything like the makeup she did, but as a justification for my splurge I have been wearing it all everyday since so I thought I’d give a little rundown of the products in a ‘do my makeup with me’ style post.
The spendiest item I bought was the Instant look palette. It contains the film star bronze and glow bronzer and highlighter, 3 very neutral eye shadow shades that (as with all of her eye palettes) are labelled enhance, brighten, and smoke as well as one of the swish and pop blushes. There is nothing groundbreaking in this palette but it is gorgeous, everything is quite neutral and can create a pretty, natural look. The best thing about it for me is how handy it is for travelling or if you’re in a hurry at home. Everything is in one place and it contains some of my favourite products. I use the film star bronze and glow anyway so now I can just use this palette, add mascara and I’m done!
For base I repurchased the magic foundation which I have a full review on here and I also got the retoucher concealer. I usually use the collection concealer and I will continue to but the retoucher is amazing too. It’s not as sheer and highlighty as other clicky pen concealers I’ve tried so it gives a bit of coverage (without being cakey).
The Laura Mercier loose power is high up on my shopping list, but since I was convinced I needed everything she used on me I also bought the airbrush microfinish setting powder. Now I have to say this is as gorgeous as you’d expect from Charlotte Tilbury. Sorry to use the most overused makeup description ever, but it is so finely milled. If you swatch it it glides on like silk and again used with a light hand it doesn’t cake!
My eyes are hazel-green and I’ve used the colour chameleon eye pencil in bronzed garnet which is intended to make green eyes pop. It really does bring out the green in my eyes. I recently ran out of it so I bought another. My sister uses this colour too and it really seems to make her blue eyes pop aswell so I don’t know how that works- but she finds bronzed garnet looks more striking on her than the chameleon pencil meant for blue eyes. Anyway it’s gorgeous and definitely worth a swatch if you’re near a counter.
Finally as a devotee of the brands lip liner in Pillow talk I picked up the lipstick of the same name (as well as stocking up on the lipliner) It’s a beautiful nude/pink shade.
The instant look palette with Pillow talk lipstick would make gorgeous bridal makeup or is perfect for everyday. I add the bronzed garnet to ramp it up a notch or as eyeliner sometimes.
Here’s the finished look! Very simple and very easy for someone like me who is not very good at makeup!
