Having spent a lot of time in check trousers in my teens I thought I’d well and truly seen the back of them but more and more as I get older I’m realising how cyclical fashion is. I’m seeing so many trends for the second or even third time and I’m not THAT old ;). It’s really changing the way I think about clothes and the way I shop. I definitely don’t jump on every bandwagon and I only follow a trend if It’s something I really love and will wear regardless of how ‘now’ it is (or isn’t) but if I do get something I want to invest wisely so I can dig it out when it comes back in again ( which it most likely will)
Putting it mildly, most of the check and houndstooth trousers out now are a bit more subtle than the ones I used to wear!. These Mango ones caught my eye mostly because of the shape. I’m a sucker for a kick flare so that won me over.
I went through a bit of a grunge phase in my teens and did the majority of my shopping on crown alley or in charity shops. Let’s just say a flattering fit was not at the top of my list of criteria. These days it’s right up there and I’m not crazy about skinny or very wide leg check trousers so these are just what I was looking for. I’ve chosen loads of different options I love at the bottom of the post!
Other than the trousers I’m also wearing my metallic Kitty boots from Seven Boot Lane. I’ve gotten loads of wear out of these since I got them- they go with everything! The jumper is Uniqlo cashmere which so far has been worth every penny. I didn’t get the hype with cashmere for years but I’ve been so impressed with this. It looks and feels lovely and is so easy to throw on, I can see a dangerous habit forming!
P.S There’s a guest in my pics today, He’s always pottering in the background when pics are taken but he wasn’t leaving my side the day these were taken 😉
Hope everyones ok after the storm today xx
