Hi everyone, hope you’re all well? I spent a full day last week putting away all my summer stuff and taking down my warmer clothes ready for the next few months! Instagram can make you feel like you need everything to be new sometimes, but that’s not sustainable for anybody and with so much choice and being bombarded daily with so many new trends, it can be really difficult to cultivate your own personal style and build a wardrobe with longevity. I’ve gone through so many fashion phases over the years, I’m just glad Instagram wasn’t a thing back then so photographic evidence is limited.
Over the last few years I’ve tried to shop much smarter, so over time I’ve acquired favourite pieces that come out year after year. When I went through my stuff last week I realised how little I actually really need to buy to get me through the Autumn/Winter this year. Just a few key pieces or things I absolutely fall in love with to fill the gap!
This year M&S have curated a selection of ‘Must Haves’ for the season, which includes classic basics as well as some statement stand out pieces. When I thought about what I wear the most every year, top of the list was cashmere jumpers and cardigans (& jeans obviously!). M&S has become well known as a go to place on the high street for quality cashmere at affordable (for cashmere) prices so that was top of my list!
It took me absolutely ages to choose what I wanted because of the huge variety of colours and styles. In the end I chose two neutrals that I didn’t have in my wardrobe up till now that I think will become an amazing addition to my capsule wardobe. The roundneck basic jumper in Oatmeal and a navy rollneck. I got the round neck in my normal size but I would go up a size or two if you prefer skinnier jeans and I went down a size in the roll neck because I prefer the look of high neck tops that way!
I’m so happy with both of these, cashmere is so warm and comfortable to wear and these two can be accessorized in so many different ways and worn with pretty much anything.
Since I was so impressed with the loafers I got last month I also wanted to get another pair of M&S shoes and I loved these cute silver flats immediately. The square toe is really cool and just like the loafers they’re super comfortable!
September has been a crazy busy month but it’s calmed down a bit now so hopefully I’ll have a few more posts in the coming weeks. Amelie has settled into school so well. she’s made lots of new friends and thankfully actually really looks forward to going in. I mentioned on my stories a few times that she has a very strong opinion about what she wants to wear so having a uniform has taken all the hassle out of it for me. She knows she has no choice, but more than that she actually loves wearing her uniform. It may be because she thinks she’s the same as her sister now, but she doesn’t want to take it off when she comes home! She does everything in it. She’d sleep in it if she could. I know the novelty will probably wear off soon enough but she’s putting it through its paces at the moment. I know from Freya what good quality the uniforms are so I’m just letting her for now because I’m so relieved it’s all going so smoothly!
I’ll be back next week with a new post!
