Sunday Riley Luna Oil review

There is so much hype surrounding Sunday Riley skincare that curiosity got the better of me and I decided to try out a couple of things including their Luna oil. I try not to jump on EVERY bandwagon but when so many people are raving on about the same product it’s either A) Amazing or B) has an amazing marketing team behind it. In this case it was endorsed by beauty industry heavyweights and bloggers I trust (Caroline Hirons to name one).

It’s described as a sleeping night oil mainly because it contains quite potent Retinol which is much more effective used at night. Retinoids are great for lines and aging skin, hyperpigmentation and acne. They can cause huge irritation initially until your skin becomes used to them. This oil claims to deliver the results with minimal skin irritation. I found this to be true but I am a regular retinoid user so I had very minor peeling in the first couple of days and that was it. If you use something like Retin-A this might not be potent enough. On the other hand if you have sensitive skin it might take a while to be able to use it regularly without peeling!

Results:  I use this as the last step in my skincare routine. I am a bit confused as to what point to add oils. Some people say to use them after moisturiser as they block absorption of other things whereas other use them before serum and moisturiser. This particular one apparently contains avocado oil that makes everything you put on before it penetrate the skin better. When I  used this first, I saw pretty much immediate results. My skin looked brighter, clearer and more even when I woke up in the morning after using  it. I’v been even more convinced of this since I stopped using it due to my pregnancy. My skin looks better when I use it than when I don’t. Downside is – all of this goodness is reflected in the price. Although I do think it’s worth investing in good skincare, it’s crazy expensive and no matter how much I love it I can’t see myself repurchasing. It would be a lovely birthday treat or christmas present.

You can pick it up HERE

Have you tried any Sunday Riley products?

My sister uses both actually so I’ll ask her to compare. I do think Luna is good for pigmentation though x
