Over the last couple of years we have finally admitted defeat and realised that eating out with all three kids can be waay more hassle than it’s worth. It’s still nice to do occasionally but if you watch my stories you’ll know that we’re much more likely to go somewhere for a picnic these days instead. It’s the nicest way to spend an afternoon- the kids can play and we don’t have the worry about entertaining them, spillages, breakages or the million other things that can go wrong in a restaurant.
I was really excited when I got the opportunity to work with TK Maxx creating my idea of the ‘perfect picnic’. I love TK Maxx homewares anyway so I was in my element choosing all the picnic essentials. They have picnic baskets with or without plates and cutlery, picnic blankets, endless accessories and plastic glasses, cups etc. all reasonably priced (up to 60% below RRP)
I’ve always wanted a proper old school picnic basket that opens on either side so I had to get this one when I saw it. They had lots of picnic blankets in a harness (which can be shoulder carried) with a water proof side but I fell in love with this cream and blue rug and it does the job perfectly. I also picked up Tupperware in lots of different sizes. I’m only slightly embarrassed to confess my love of tupperware. The organisation it facilitates brings me joy! 🙂 I tend to put meats and other sandwich fillings in them so everyone can decide what they want themselves.
We had the buggy with us so we were able to bring some cushions along which just adds a bit more comfort. All of them are from TK Maxx as well and the mustard black and cream ones are my new favourite things! (They’ve taken pride of place on my couch).
